What's On My Wall

i have a total of 89 magazines in my possession. (a lot i know)
there are lost of different kinds
quite a variety: Vogue, Elle, Marie Claire, W, Vanity Fair, Nylon, Teen Vogue, Instyle, Lucky, and Entertainment Weekly.
why have i kept them all?
because every few months, i take a couple of days to go through ALL of them
and i ALWAYS find something new that i wouldn't have found if i had gotten rid of them earlier.
i also leave some untouched so i can look back at them and wonder why i wanted to wear the clothes in them. (a lot of the clothes are really weird looking though :P)
back in November was the last time that i went through my magazines and i hung up all of the pictures i liked on my bedroom wall.
so in this post, and various future posts, i will share some pictures i like.
here is the picture:
(sitting) Marc Jacobs, Kate Moss and Justin Timberlake

there is one part about this picture that i really like.
the picture as a whole is really cool, but this part that i'm about to say is what made me want to put it on my wall.
and it's not Justin :P
it's Kate Moss' pose, from the walking legs, to the arched back into her arm flowing down into Justin's hand. it looks flawless, like a ballerina :) graceful and light.
the way Justin is holding Kate's hand is also really cool, so gentle.
now i like Marc Jacobs, but i honestly think his presence in this picture is just awkward.
this way his arms are around Kate's knees is more robotic than effortless.
he looks like a third wheel to me :P
the expression on his face however makes him look somewhat like he belonged in the photo. you can't really see it here, but if you click on the picture then you can see it better.
i don't think he ruined the picture though, so that's good. (if you think differently, please let me know!) :)
so that is one of the many pictures on my wall!
hope you liked it

Beautiful Faces- Actresses

this very similar to my last post but i'm going to talk about actresses instead of actors.
i found it difficult to pick the top 5 most beautiful acresses, because i find a lot of acresses just gorgeous.
so i picked 5 that i really like :)
here we go!

number 5: Charlotte Gainsbourg
first seen- Melancholia
although i was not a very fond of Melancholia, i found Charlotte very beautiful in that movie.
she played a woman who reacted how a lot of us would react if a planet 10 times the size of earth was going to collide with us: scared. she portrayed that character very well.
the way she carries herself is intersting too. just go look at some of her red carpet photos.
she's also in music, weird music at that, but strangly, it's catchy.
one of my favorite music videos is hers.
click here if you would like to see it.

number 4: Carey Mulligan
first seen- Pride and Prejudice
there is something very unique about Carey, she always comes off as a very gentle, soft, and humble person, which is refreshing. she has come a long way since Pride and Prejudice, and i think she deserves the attention she has aquired, she is very talented.
a couple years ago i saw a picture of her in Vogue with the cutest pixie cut,
so i went and chopped off 13 inches of my hair (probably won't do that again, short haircuts are not for me :P)
she, however, pulls off the short cut wonderfully

number 3: Rachel McAdams
first seen- Red Eye
goodness, she is pretty, and she has the ability to play all sorts of different parts.
talented.
she has this charm about her that draws you in, she makes you believe what she is:
you hate her in Mean Girls, you love her in The Notebook, and you fear for her in Red Eye.
she keeps you guessing

first seen- The Help
i'm sad to say that The Help is the only movie i've ever seen her in, but she did wonderfully in that movie.
her character was so honest and beautiful, and the things she went through, i think that a lot of women can relate to that.
not to mention she is gorgeous!

first seen- Shutter Island
when i first say Michelle in Shutter Island i thought, i have to find out who that is!
and i did :)
even though she's completely mad in that movie, i thought she was stunning when you first see her in that floral sun dress.
she played the very beautiful Marilyn Monroe in My Week With Marilyn. she is the reason i started doing research on Marilyn and becoming a huge fan!
so Michelle, thank you for being awesome :)

there you have it!
i would love to know what your top five are, so leave a comment!

Beautiful Faces- Actors

i'm a huge fan when it comes to movies.
they are one of my favorite things about life. each movie is a piece of art, even i don't like it very much (which doesn't happen very often)
so i'm going to count down from 5 to 1 in what i think are the most beautiful actors.
these actors have stood out to me throughout my life so i will share them with you!
of course this list will change over time, but this is what it is now.

number 5: Tobey Maguire
first seen- Spider-man
kind of a random pick i know, but i find Tobey to have a happy, soft face.
i've only really seen him in Spider-man (what a surprise :P) but he did a really good job in those movies!
i think he portayed Peter Parker very well

number 4: Eddie Redmayne
first seen- September 2010 Vogue
when i first saw him in that issue of Vogue i thought, what an interesting face.
skinny face, big lips, and freckles.
since then i have kept an eye on him and was delighted to see him in My Week With Marilyn
he did very well in that movie :)

number 3: Jean Dujardin
first seen- The Artist
this man has one of the most classic faces i have ever seen. he looks like he could actually be from the roaring twenties!
when he smiles his face is timeless, even when he's not smiling his face is timeless!
he has one of those faces that you don't forget once you see it, especially if you see him in some of his movies.
when i saw the The Artist i thought that he was perfect for the lead role because in silent films, the actors have to be able to show clear and exaggerated emotion and he did that so well!

number 2: Joaquin Phoenix
first seen- Signs
i first saw Signs a little bit after it came out and it kinda freaked me out! ha
but i didn't really notice Joaquin until i watched The Village just last year.
when he played Johnny Cash in Walk The Line, i started to really respect him a lot more.
i think that Walk The Line was one of his best roles.

number 1: Adrien Brody

first seen- can't remember :O
Adrien Brody is what inspired me to write this post.
when i saw the poster for his upcoming movie Detachment i was in awe of the face he was making.
it made me think of people that use anger to cover the hurt they feel,
and that feels very real to me.
Adrien truly has a beautiful face.

well, there are what i think are some of the most beautiful faces in hollywood.
soon i'll be posting basically the same thing again, but it will be actresses, so.... stay tuned!

The Man With The Golden Vocal Chords

back in 2009, a movie called "Confessions of a Shopaholic" was released and i was immediately drawn in because of the fashion.
i never saw it while it was in the theatres, but i did rent when it came out on DVD.
i liked it so much that i went out the next day and bought it for $20! :O i don't do that very often anymore.
after i watched it again, i noticed a song in this movie. a song that was very familiar, but put in a different format. a song that was (and still is) so sweet to my ears, i could listen to it over and over again.
the song was a remake of a once popular song called "Girls Just Want to Have Fun"
this remake that i really liked was not 80's bubblegum pop, or filled with high-pitched vocals, but quite the opposite: slow, beautiful piano, accompanied by low, clear vocals.
i immediately went to itunes to figure out who sung this cover and found that it was made by a man named Greg Laswell
Greg Laswell...
Greg Laswell...
i played the name in my head over and over again so i wouldn't forget it. (because often, i forget artists that i mean to look up later )
very shortly after "Shopaholic" came out, the movie "My Sister's Keeper" came out. originally i hadn't wanted to see it, but my momma recieved it in the mail from Netflix. so i thought, "what the hey, i'll watch it"
and guess what...
the Greg Laswell song was in that movie too! :D

after that, i only lestened to the "Girls Just Want to Have Fun" song, i didn't listen, really, to any of his other songs except for Comes and Goes
a couple weeks ago, Itunes released the 69 cent songs for January 2012.
when i looked under the section for cover songs, i found a cover of This Woman's Work by Greg Laswell :))
i couldn't resist.
it was then that i decided to actually listen to more of his songs
now i have 4 songs by him (still not very many i know), but i plan to purchase all of his music.
without knowing it, i had seen Greg laswell before finding it in the "Shopaholic" soundtrack.
a while before that, my dad has heard "The way I Am" by Ingrid Michaelson and immediately showed me the music video for the song.
if you've seen the music video, you know that Ingrid is and "odd" girl in a crowd of clowns, literally, but there a guy clown who likes her even though she is "different"
wanna guess who the guy clown is?
Greg Laswell♥
wah i love it :)

so there you have it.
that is how i found out about one of the best singers EVER!
i hope that everyone who reads this can appreciate him like i do

I DON'T KNOW...

... how to write a blog. i have no idea what i'm doing right now. i'm just going to write my thoughts here and hope it can be called a blog.
i will start with a little bit about myself:
hi :) my name is Katie

   God is my life.
no, He's more than my life.
   He's everything
   He's in everything.
He gets me through the day.
   God is my best friend.

my favorite color is a tie between green and grey
   ~yes, grey. it's a pretty color, don't you think?

   i find beauty in everything
   ~yes everything :)

   i love movies
~i am not kidding when i say this. i really do love them.
not more than my family or God, but i do love them.

Marilyn Monroe is one of my biggest role models
~not because of her being a sex symbol.
but because she was a beautiful person, just SO beautiful!
i hope that i am or become as luminous as she was

i think that's all the main things you should know about me. so check back soon if you want to hear more of my thoughts, because i have plenty ;)

   love, Katie♥
