My Week Without Social Media

So remember in my last post how I said that I had a feeling that I'd have at least one day where I would have a really hard time with this experiment? Thursday, is that day. I don't know if it was hard because I had it in my head that it might happen, or if it was just a hard day.
It wasn't even Facebook or Instagram that was really the problem, although I do really miss both of those social medias, it was just one.
Vine.
It's a newer social media, and I just found it in June, but I am pretty much addicted. Which is sad.
Vine is where you post a 6 second video, and that's it. Sounds boring, but people get really creative and it's awesome, but sometimes I'm on Vine for a long, long time.
Thursday was hard, but I got through it, and today (Friday) has been much easier!
So hopefully I can make it through the next couple of days. :P
In all seriousness though, if I had to give up all social media forever, I could do it. I know it sounds like I have this dependency on social medias, but I don't. I think that it comes off that way because I've gone 5 days without it, and it is hard. But I do think it is good for me

My Week Without Social Media: Wednesday

Wednesday, a day that is bittersweet.
It means that the weekend is coming, I've tackled half the week. It also means there are still two more days until the refuge of the weekend is mine. I can do this!
Still getting so much easier! I can't believe it! I even got to a point where I was actually enjoying that fact that I have no idea of what is happening in the lives of everyone I know. It's somehow, freeing. So nice, and so worth it actually!
So I was in my own for most of this evening, and unfortunately I didn't really do anything productive. BUT I did get three cookbooks from the library, so hopefully I can get started on those ASAP!
There was a lot less of the not knowing what do to with myself, and a lot more of just enjoying life, which is something I enjoy immensely.
Who knew giving up social medias for a week could have such a positive outcome? And there is still a few days left!!! I have this strange feeling though where I'll have a day that is extremely difficult. I guess I'll have to cope with it, if or when it comes.
I'm also incredibly proud of how disciplined I am through all this, haven't given in once. I didn't really think that I would give in though.
Well those are the most significant things that happened today.
I'm sure that tomorrow will bring more interesting discoveries, or maybe not.
Either way, I will keep you updated!

My Week Without Social Media: Tuesday

Tuesday was definitely easier than Monday.
Up until I got home from work at 6:30.
I get home, and my sister has prepared a meal of taco soup that was just so delicious. My sisters and I like to eat and talk about our day. A few of things they wanted to talk about had to do with Facebook or Instagram, and I had to ask them to please talk about something else. After a few times they started getting frustrated with me. Sorry! 😐
I also had more trouble with feeling like I didn't have anything to keep my mind busy, I'd be sitting there and just get that horrible itch to give up on this endeavor.
So today, Wednesday, my goal is to find things to do, preferably productive things.
My sisters have youth group tonight, so I will be home by myself after I get home from work today.
What shall I do? I'll probably make something, like food, or tear up a magazine and make a collage.
I'll post a picture in my next post if there's anything worth seeing 😉

My Week Without Social Media: Monday

My normal weekday schedule:

Wake up, go onto Facebook, Instagram, twitter, YouTube, Vine, Etc. takes me about an hour every morning to catch up on everything.

Breakfast, checking my phone every couple minutes WHILE I'm eating 😒

Shower, after my shower, I check everything on my phone AGAIN.

Lunch, same as breakfast

Work for five hours

Come home and go on Facebook, Instagram, etc.

Dinner, no phones allowed during dinner

Evening, watch movie or spend time with family, checking all social medias every once and a while.

And somehow before I go to sleep I spend another hour or more on my phone.

How???
Because this next week of my blog posts is going to be on my giving up social media, my daily schedule was more focused on my social media consumption. I do other things too, I'm not completely stuck on Facebook all day long 😉 but when I was making this schedule, I did see how much I actually do go on my phone to see what is happening in the world, too much. That's why on Sunday, September 15th, 2013 I decided to just not even touch it for a week. I also feel that God wants me to do it, give Him more attention, which when God tells you to give something up, you know that you might have a problem 😂 so this is my day-to-day experience on not having any kind of social media for a week. I find it quite funny that I won't be able to share these posts with friend until after the week is over.

Alright, Monday.
It's weird because it's not necessarily hard to go without the social medias, it's the fact that I have to stop myself from pushing that little icon. It's just out of habit! But since I've been stopping myself all day, it has become a lot easier.
I've felt like I have a lot of free time (in just the first day!). I have been kinda antsy to be honest, just like my mind needs to be numbed, and without social media its just running at a thousand miles an hour, it's weird. I feel like I have a tick or something 😂 withdrawal I guess.. So funny
Instead of going on my phone for an hour, I played my ukulele and piano for an hour! It made me extremely happy! I caught up on some letter writing. My Bible reading was a lot more mentally productive because I didn't have my phone distracting me every 5 minutes. So there have been a lot of good things coming out of this.
I get push notifications from Facebook and twitter, which to my surprise, I have been really good at ignoring when I open my phone, but it was difficult because I kept getting notifications from Twitter and I NEVER get notifications from Twitter. So I'm looking forward to see what that was all about on Sunday! You're probably thinking, why don't you just turn off the push notifications? Because, I don't feel like messing with it, I think as the week goes by, the less activity there will be. Hopefully anyway.
Well that is my experience with day one!
Thank you for reading!

Lifeguards

My church is held at a community center because we don't have a building, so if I have free time, I like to sit and watch people swim in the pool. I don't know if that's weird or not, but I love to people-watch.
Just this last time I went to the pool, I noticed the lifeguards. They just stand there, alone, occasionally mouthing the rules to some rowdy munchkins, but of the most part, they are alone to their thoughts. To me, I don't know if I'd go insane, or it'd be a good job for me. I am an introvert, so being alone is very beneficial for me mentally, but just watching and doing nothing might be hard at times. I DO need social interaction.
When I go swimming, which is very rare, especially in the winter, I like to gather enough courage to talk to the lifeguards, just so they aren't so bored. Maybe they're not bored, I just feel like I'd be bored if I was a lifeguard.
I really romanticize people who are more reserved, probably because I can relate to them. And not all lifeguards are introverts like me. I'm weird because I will put personalities to people based on the few minutes that I see them interact with the world.
That lifeguard? Oh, he just has this job until he's out of college, he hopes to get a job as an architect. He thinks of how the community center was made, the blueprints, what went through the builder's minds when they decided to add onto the community center.
The other lifeguard? She is happily married, despite looking pretty young. Her husband has a good, sustaining job, and she works as lifeguard because she loves the water, she's also saving some money for a trip to California.
I don't know these people, but I give them these wonderful and beautiful lives, this is how I think.
Well, this was random, if you've made it all the way through this post, I salute you
Love,
Katie

Winter is beautiful...

...it really is.
And I'm so happy when it begins.
But as the season goes on, I start getting depressed, like really depressed. Not to a point where I'd hurt myself, been there, done that, never going back, but I feel really trapped.
It happens every single year, I think I'll be fine but it sneaks up on me and before I know it, I'm just so sad, all the time.
It seems like everything that I've worried about individually, becomes one big worry that I can't stop thinking of.
The biggest worry this year has been, what are you going to do with your life?
What are you going to do with your life...
What are you going to do with your life...??
Every person on the planet is asking me this question and I feel stupid because I don't know. I've been considering not going to college, and I don't dare tell anyone because I would imagine judgment, I already do and I haven't even told anyone! But I feel certain people can sense it, from the way I shy away from college talk.
Depression stinks because every little thing gets to you, even things you wouldn't think twice about.
Like the fact that I am 18 years old and I just opened a checking account at the bank, and the fact that I completely blanked on my social security number when opening the account. That shouldn't bother me, but it does for some reason.
During the middle of winter, I crave to travel.
Right now I want more than anything to go to disney world, by myself. Not with friends or family, just by myself, but I'm too much of a chicken to go by myself. And I don't have enough money.
I feel really lonely, in the sense if a significant other. I feel extremely lonely in that area of my life, but then I dislike myself for not being able to let God be that for me, I know He's trying. I also dislike myself for not enjoying my life as a single, young person.
I had to miss a retreat for the college students at my church because I had already asked for a week and a half off from work, I can hear my dad saying... If you really wanted to go, you could have made it happen. Yes i could have, I was basically an extra person at work that week, a couple extra days wouldn't have made too much of a difference. It's over now, and there's nothing I can do about it. I really needed it too, although they did go skiing for a good chunk of the trip and me+skiing= not good. For the most part I love skiing, but I swear I was born cold-blooded, I would freeze within the first 15 minutes. I am not exaggerating, the last time I went skiing, the front halves of my feet were completely numb, not fun.
I know this is a kind of really sad post, but the upside is that I am going to not one but TWO concerts within the next couple months! I NEVER go to concerts and I love them! So I'm really excited that I get to be away from life, even if its for a few hours.
Another thing I'm happy about is that I really like my job, if I didn't like my job, who knows what I would be feeling right now.
There is a silver lining, and it is called "springtime". Just kidding, it's really called "I need to figure out what God wants me to do, and do it, and look to Him when I'm lonely" hehe it's really late...
This secret from postsecret.com inspired this post, because its partly what I am feeling right now

in between

so i have to be honest, i feel like an idiot when i go to church sometimes. the reason i feel this way is very small, but it's weird. i will explain, so when my family first gets to church, my dad drops me, my sisters and my mom off at the door while he goes to park the car. once we get inside, my mom goes straight to the bathroom, while my sisters go straight to youth group. i do not usually need to pee when we get there, and i'm too old for youth group, so i just stand there in the lobby, looking like a lonely loner. if someone does talk to me, its the usual small talk for like 2 minutes, and then i move on.

i'm in that weird in-between stage where i'm not in youth group anymore, but i'm not "an adult" and then if someone my age does come to church, they're with their boyfriend/girlfriend or husband/wife. all the people who graduated with me are off at college, or if they do come to church, we don't really talk, because we didn't really talk all that much in youth group.

i probably sound like a cry baby, and i'm sorry, but if you are or have been in that position before, you know what i mean.

love, Katie

The one about Costco.

I love going to Costco.
Why? You ask.
Well, I will tell you why.
First of all, it's a really good place to people-watch. I like to watch people (not in a creepy way :P) I just mean, there are so many different types of people out there, and each one of them has a story.

Costco is large store, if you haven't been there, just look up "Costco store" into google images, you'll see what I mean. Everything comes in bulk there (despite that fact, my mother goes there at least 2 or 3 times a week) because everything comes in bulk, the aisles are miles high of products they sell. What I like about the size is, when you're outside a Costco store, it just looks like a big, square brick building, but when you go inside, it's this super store, mostly full of things you don't need, but unfortunately that's the society we live in.

In every Costco, there's an aisle end specially for flowers, it's one of my favorite aisles to pass because there are so many flowers! It smells awesome looks absolutely beautiful! So colorful.

The section of the store with all of the electronics is a pretty cool part too, like at Walmart or target, all the tvs play the same thing, except at Costco, they usually have one or two tvs playing a really awesome movie, like how to train your dragon, or Star Wars. Cool, I know!

The apple pie from Costco that they have for thanksgiving season is absolutely devine! I mean really delicious! They also have this chocolate cake that lasts forever because its so rich! Lets just say that Costco knows what they're doing when it comes to desserts.

The people that work at Costco are just so beautiful, I mean, if you walk in there, your jaw drops. So next time you go to Costco, look at the people that work there, you'll see what I mean. And most of them are really nice! There are a few that are kinda mean at times, but they're usually pretty avoidable.

Speaking of people that work at Costco, here is my final reason for loving to go to Costco. There is this guy that I have the BIGGEST crush on that works in the food court place. No joke, I just find him SO incredibly attractive. I always remembered him working at Costco since I remember ever going there, but just a few months ago, when I was getting some ice cream, he was the one taking my order and I just started thinking he was the bee's knees. I don't know why.

So now, every time my mother says shes going to Costco, I want to go to see the flowers and the tvs, but I also like to see if he's there.

Well, now you probably won't look at Costco the same, but that's okay, there's beauty in everything, you just have to look for it.

It's 11:11, make a wish!

You know how people say that if you want to watch a soap opera, just go on to Facebook and scroll through your news feed? Well I've always ignored those people who tend to make everything they possibly can dramatic. But over the last couple of days, I start to notice those posts more, especially the posts of my friends who are going off to college or the people who have been in college and they complain about everything! It makes me so scared, and here's why:

So I am taking a year off to get a job and save up some money, which I already feel kind of self conscious about because its not something people my age do, but here I am.

I have a job as a full-time nanny, but I don't actually start until a little under a month. I'm really excited for it! Right now I feel very comfortable, I feel like I am enjoying life so much! So much more than I ever have.

But here's where I get scared, my friends are complaining about school, their job, or relationships. I'm not saying those aren't all perfectly plausible things to have problems with, but they only talk about the bad things, which makes me wonder if that's all they really EVER focus on. So when I start working, am I just gonna get so tired that I only focus on the bad things? I'm scared because I KNOW that when I get tired, I get depressed.

I'm so in love with life right now, I'm scared that when my life speeds up, I'm going to lose that love. But... Even if I did start focusing on bad things, I would not post it on Facebook. I try to keep the things I share positive.

So if you are reading this, and you like to share those things that are so bad about your life, just don't. Because like me, when you are enjoying life, you'll look bad at how dramatic you were and feel embarrassed for yourself. I'm probably going to look back on this very post and laugh because ill think I was so dramatic.

This post, so far is a little bit of a downer, so ill change the mood a little. The reason I am in love with life is because I love God, and I've tried to get to know Him a bit, and when you know a person, you know how they tend to interact with you. I see God EVERYWHERE, He's in a song I hear on the radio because its so beautiful, He's in a picture in my wall because I saw beauty in it, He speaks to me at random times throughout the day to say exactly what I need to hear, He's in a good movie because its so beautifully made. There are so many ways I see Him, and that's how I enjoy life, and that's also why I'm scared to lose it.

I make myself laugh

so i said i was going to post more often, and that didn't happen... so i laugh, and laugh, and laugh.
ha ha ha.
its very late, and i Can't seem to fall asleep. sO i laugh.
actually, i can't laugh oUt loud because my sister is asLeep, here in the same room with me. i don't want to wake her up.
sometimes i wish that i coulD fly, and look down at the beautiful state of mInnesota, especially during the state fair. every time i go to the state fair, i look aT all the people and think, they are smiling and having a good time, But somewhere, in themselves or with someone else, or in the near future, they are going through somEthing hard. and my heart breaks for them. i want Them to be happy, so i say a little praying for as many people as I can, even when im not at the state fair. because i love people, just so Much. i think people are just so beautiful, and it makes me sad when people are so sElfish. sometimes i just can't understand how people are so .mean.
?

i know that God loves everyone though, and that He wants everyone to know Him, so that is nice to know. God is everywhere.

LOVE,
Katieee

Autoharp

i have been desperately trying to find some autoharp songs because that instument has to be one of the most beautiful instruments EVER!
if you don't know what an autoharp is, there will be one in a video i'll post on this blog a little ways on.
the first time i heard an autoharp was during the movie "A Series of Unfortunate Events"
it used to be my favorite movie, just because it was so different from any other movie i had ever seen when it came out.
if you are familiar with this film, then you may remember the scene where the children's uncle plays an autoharp for them.
when i saw that scene for the first time in the theatre, i loved it!
so many notes and beautiful chords!
here is the scene:
so beautiful right?♥
anyway, when i first saw it, i thought it was awesome, but i didn't really look into it that much.
recently i bought the score for "500 Days of Summer" and it is so awesome!
there is a song in it though that has an autoharp and this song helped me re-discover the autoharp.
here is the song:

when i heard the song i instantly knew it was the same instrument in "Series" but i didn't know what it was called.
i asked my mom and she told me (yay mom!)
since then, i've looked up videos on people playing this instrument and i can't get enough!
so i am seriously considering saving up some money and buying one, because that would be SO AWESOME!
that is my latest obsession, i hope you can enjoy it like i have

Like Crazy

please be aware that this post has spoilers, so if you have not seen this movie and want to watch it without having the end ruined for you, wait until you've seen the movie.

This movie was very interesting.
It wasn't bad, but it wasn't good either.
It was choppy and seemed to be fast paced, but the lack of music and movement made it slow, which is very appropriate if you ask me.
here's the story in case you've never heard of this movie:

Anna and Jacob are two college students in LA and they get together.
Anna is from the UK and overstays her Visa, so she gets banned from the US.
They start to drift apart, but several times they come back together again.
The couple gets married in hopes to lift the ban, but no luck.
Eventually the ban does get lifted, but by this time Anna and Jacob have
fallen apart again.
Anna tells Jacob the ban is lifted and he tells her to come back to America
to live with him. Unfortunately, when Anna goes to America, they both realize that
they simply don't like each other anymore and Anna goes home.

so the fact that the movie is slow is appropriate to me because, us as the viewers are supposed to be waiting and waiting to see them get back together, just like the characters in the movie.
my theory as to why it ultimately didn't work out between them is because they didn't actually like each other as much as they thought they did. when they first get together, the mood is about infatuation and being in the moment. they didn't have time to get out of that phase before they were seaparated, so that is all they thought their relationship was.
they were also not committed to each other. every time they got back together, they would ask each other if they had been seeing anyone else and even asking if they'd slept with someone else! (?) they clearly didn't care about the relationship enough to refrain from being unfaithful to one another.
the director did a very good job of easing the audience into believing that they didn't like each other anymore. when they were together again, a little bit of that infatuation from the beginning is chiseled off and in the end, the mood is opposite of the beginning, awkward and wrong.
to me, i never felt that they were actually in love. that what you're supposed to believe right at the beginning, but i also wonder if maybe it was meant to seem like they weren't in real love, or if the chemistry between the actors didn't really click. the feeling could have been to forshadow the future events.
when i first saw the trailer for this movie, i bought that they were in love and that the movie would have more on why they were in love and show how they grew to love each other. when i saw the movie i found that their relationship was all about the physical aspect of it, and they didn't really get to know each other as people. it was interesting to see the different atmospheres between the trailer and the actual movie.
my mother was starting to go Like Crazy because they would keep getting back together despite them losing interst in one another. here's what i think explains why they kept getting back together despite them losing interest in each other: at the very end of the movie before Anna left, it showed them hugging and having flashbacks to their good memories, and i think that those memories are all they hold onto in the relationship. i then think back to when they would be contemplating whether they should get back together and i imagine them playing those good memories in their mind and wanting those feelings again. so at the end when they look over all the time they've spent together, they almost decide that they just can't get those feelings back anymore and she leaves.
ultimately, it's just a sad "love" story, but there is a lot to learn from it. you can learn that not moving on can be really dangerous and harmful not only to you, but to those around you. you can learn that being faithful in a relationship is a lot more important than what society tells us. and lastly, you can learn that a successful relationship is more than what the good feelings make it.

Beautiful Voices- Male Musical Artists

a couple posts ago, i had two posts stating "beautiful faces"
so i decided that i wanted to do it with musical artists as well, but more focused on their voice.
i may at times talk about their faces too :)
here are my top 5 beautiful voices

number 5: Kevin Jonas
who he is: oldest member of the Jonas Brothers
first heard: "It's About Time"
yes, i was a huge fan of the Jonas Brothers, and i still am! :)
Kevin only sang back-up vocals through the Jonas Brothers' career together,
but he had one song that he sang lead for that was on their tv show.
it was called Scandinavia Listen
i had never heard his voice solo before and it was awesome!

number 4: Brandon Flowers
who he is: lead singer of the Killers
first heard: "Somebody Told Me"
i have been a fan of Brandon's voice since i first heard it.
aside from being in the Killers, he's got a solo album which has the song "Crossfire" which is one of my favorite songs ever! the music video is really cool too! watch

number 3: Jason Castro
who he is: 3rd runner up on the 7th season of American Idol
first heard: American Idol
my previous post has a little bit about Jason Castro in it.
he has a very soft voice, but it's confident and smooth.
he is also the reason i started playing the ukulele♥

number 2: Danny Donoghuh
who he is: lead singer of the Script♥
first heard: "The Man Who Can't Be Moved"
i remember the first time i heard that song, i was on my way to go skiing
and when i got home i listened to that song over and over again!
i couldn't get enough, i still can't get enough!
he really gets into his music, which makes his voice absolutely beautiful
here is an example of how he gets into the mood and music watch

number 1: Greg Laswell

Dreadlocks

i am fond of dradlocks. i think they are absolutely beautiful.
so natural and different.
i first noticed how much i liked dreadlocks when i watched Jason Castro on American Idol.

i like his voice a lot and i thought it was that his was the way it was. as the season of American Idol progressed and Jason got farther and farther into the competition, they would show little interview clips before the contestant's performance. Jason would sometimes talk about his hair, and i found myself hoping every week that he would talk about his hair. i didn't do any research on them until i went to the state fair in 2010. there were so many people with dreadlocks at the fair, i was so happy that i could see dreadlocks in person rather than tv.
after the fair, i started doing research on dread and i started considering having dreads myself.
after a lot of research and preparation, i finally got dreadlocks on December 15, 2010. (back combed my hair tightly in sections) unfortunately, they kept falling out, not completely, but there was so much lookse hair, it didn't even look like dreads anymore. i kept back combing, but the same results kept happening.
so exactly a month later (not long at all i know, but i was losing confidence fast), January 15, 2011 i combed my hair out.
i was heartbroken.
in May of 2011 i decided to try the dreads again, but this time i was going to try the natural method. (keeping the hair clean, but not combing or touching it)
i only made it 3 weeks.
i wanted immediate results, so i got frustrated and gave up.
i was angry at myself for not being patient (i was having some self-esteem issues at the time, which i think greatly contributed to my failure)
amazingly, in 2011, i learned to love myself a lot, something i had been trying to accomplish for a long time.
sooo that whole story was to lead up to my saying, i'm trying again!
third time's a charm right? ;)
i'm going with the natural method.
i haven't combed my hair for a week now and it's so messy!
i am now on a journey of practicing patience and i am so much more determined this time!

1 week

well wish me luck! :)

What's On My Wall

i have a total of 89 magazines in my possession. (a lot i know)
there are lost of different kinds
quite a variety: Vogue, Elle, Marie Claire, W, Vanity Fair, Nylon, Teen Vogue, Instyle, Lucky, and Entertainment Weekly.
why have i kept them all?
because every few months, i take a couple of days to go through ALL of them
and i ALWAYS find something new that i wouldn't have found if i had gotten rid of them earlier.
i also leave some untouched so i can look back at them and wonder why i wanted to wear the clothes in them. (a lot of the clothes are really weird looking though :P)
back in November was the last time that i went through my magazines and i hung up all of the pictures i liked on my bedroom wall.
so in this post, and various future posts, i will share some pictures i like.
here is the picture:
(sitting) Marc Jacobs, Kate Moss and Justin Timberlake

there is one part about this picture that i really like.
the picture as a whole is really cool, but this part that i'm about to say is what made me want to put it on my wall.
and it's not Justin :P
it's Kate Moss' pose, from the walking legs, to the arched back into her arm flowing down into Justin's hand. it looks flawless, like a ballerina :) graceful and light.
the way Justin is holding Kate's hand is also really cool, so gentle.
now i like Marc Jacobs, but i honestly think his presence in this picture is just awkward.
this way his arms are around Kate's knees is more robotic than effortless.
he looks like a third wheel to me :P
the expression on his face however makes him look somewhat like he belonged in the photo. you can't really see it here, but if you click on the picture then you can see it better.
i don't think he ruined the picture though, so that's good. (if you think differently, please let me know!) :)
so that is one of the many pictures on my wall!
hope you liked it

Beautiful Faces- Actresses

this very similar to my last post but i'm going to talk about actresses instead of actors.
i found it difficult to pick the top 5 most beautiful acresses, because i find a lot of acresses just gorgeous.
so i picked 5 that i really like :)
here we go!

number 5: Charlotte Gainsbourg
first seen- Melancholia
although i was not a very fond of Melancholia, i found Charlotte very beautiful in that movie.
she played a woman who reacted how a lot of us would react if a planet 10 times the size of earth was going to collide with us: scared. she portrayed that character very well.
the way she carries herself is intersting too. just go look at some of her red carpet photos.
she's also in music, weird music at that, but strangly, it's catchy.
one of my favorite music videos is hers.
click here if you would like to see it.

number 4: Carey Mulligan
first seen- Pride and Prejudice
there is something very unique about Carey, she always comes off as a very gentle, soft, and humble person, which is refreshing. she has come a long way since Pride and Prejudice, and i think she deserves the attention she has aquired, she is very talented.
a couple years ago i saw a picture of her in Vogue with the cutest pixie cut,
so i went and chopped off 13 inches of my hair (probably won't do that again, short haircuts are not for me :P)
she, however, pulls off the short cut wonderfully

number 3: Rachel McAdams
first seen- Red Eye
goodness, she is pretty, and she has the ability to play all sorts of different parts.
talented.
she has this charm about her that draws you in, she makes you believe what she is:
you hate her in Mean Girls, you love her in The Notebook, and you fear for her in Red Eye.
she keeps you guessing

first seen- The Help
i'm sad to say that The Help is the only movie i've ever seen her in, but she did wonderfully in that movie.
her character was so honest and beautiful, and the things she went through, i think that a lot of women can relate to that.
not to mention she is gorgeous!

first seen- Shutter Island
when i first say Michelle in Shutter Island i thought, i have to find out who that is!
and i did :)
even though she's completely mad in that movie, i thought she was stunning when you first see her in that floral sun dress.
she played the very beautiful Marilyn Monroe in My Week With Marilyn. she is the reason i started doing research on Marilyn and becoming a huge fan!
so Michelle, thank you for being awesome :)

there you have it!
i would love to know what your top five are, so leave a comment!

Beautiful Faces- Actors

i'm a huge fan when it comes to movies.
they are one of my favorite things about life. each movie is a piece of art, even i don't like it very much (which doesn't happen very often)
so i'm going to count down from 5 to 1 in what i think are the most beautiful actors.
these actors have stood out to me throughout my life so i will share them with you!
of course this list will change over time, but this is what it is now.

number 5: Tobey Maguire
first seen- Spider-man
kind of a random pick i know, but i find Tobey to have a happy, soft face.
i've only really seen him in Spider-man (what a surprise :P) but he did a really good job in those movies!
i think he portayed Peter Parker very well

number 4: Eddie Redmayne
first seen- September 2010 Vogue
when i first saw him in that issue of Vogue i thought, what an interesting face.
skinny face, big lips, and freckles.
since then i have kept an eye on him and was delighted to see him in My Week With Marilyn
he did very well in that movie :)

number 3: Jean Dujardin
first seen- The Artist
this man has one of the most classic faces i have ever seen. he looks like he could actually be from the roaring twenties!
when he smiles his face is timeless, even when he's not smiling his face is timeless!
he has one of those faces that you don't forget once you see it, especially if you see him in some of his movies.
when i saw the The Artist i thought that he was perfect for the lead role because in silent films, the actors have to be able to show clear and exaggerated emotion and he did that so well!

number 2: Joaquin Phoenix
first seen- Signs
i first saw Signs a little bit after it came out and it kinda freaked me out! ha
but i didn't really notice Joaquin until i watched The Village just last year.
when he played Johnny Cash in Walk The Line, i started to really respect him a lot more.
i think that Walk The Line was one of his best roles.

number 1: Adrien Brody

first seen- can't remember :O
Adrien Brody is what inspired me to write this post.
when i saw the poster for his upcoming movie Detachment i was in awe of the face he was making.
it made me think of people that use anger to cover the hurt they feel,
and that feels very real to me.
Adrien truly has a beautiful face.

well, there are what i think are some of the most beautiful faces in hollywood.
soon i'll be posting basically the same thing again, but it will be actresses, so.... stay tuned!
